President’s Message
President John Muegge’s Message:
Thanks to the work by Immediate Past President, Taka Blackburn, I am off to a good start of my year as your president. Things are coming together so that we are back to our regular meetings at 8830 Sharkey Drive for which I am extremely happy. Nice to be home again.
Over the past month I, along with immediate past president Taka and PDG Andy as well as our 1st VP Rebecca, attended the installation of the District Governor and her cabinet. Congratulations to our own Lion Jack Edwards who is our Zone Chairperson. As the Zone Chairperson, he is the go-between that links our club to the District and to the other clubs in our local area. I know that he will represent us well at the District.
We have also taken care of the transition of our new board as well as getting the signature cards updated for our new treasurer, Jason Springer, at the Bank of Stockton for our two accounts. Our club secretary, Jack Edwards, is on top of our newsletter and our meeting agendas which makes life easier for me to transition into the role as club president.
Although we don’t have any fundraisers scheduled for the month of August, I will be kept busy with attendance at the Zone meeting on August 2nd as well as the quarterly District meeting on August 21st.
One goal that we need to get started on is to increase our numbers so that we can continue to serve our community. The more hands we have, the easier the workload will be for all of us. If you have ideas for an activity that can bring new members to the club, come to a board meeting to share them or pass them on to one of our 4 directors to bring to the meetings. If you don’t remember, our 4 directors are Lions Sharon Mika, Don Thompson, Marv Neill & Taka Blackburn.
The August dinner meetings will be on the 9th and 23rd. The board meeting will be on the 16th. |

Application for Membership
Lions are in 200 countries and geographic areas. We have 45,000 clubs with over 1.3 million members world wide. We have a dynamic history. We are best known for fighting blindness — it’s part of our history as well as our work today. But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.
-
- We hope you will consider joining our club.
- To become a Lion, you must be of good moral character and good reputation in our community.
- Membership is by invitation.
- If you’re interested in being invited to join Lions Club of Elk Grove, you may want to consider some of the following facts about Lionism:
- Lions are active.
- Our motto is “We Serve.”
