President’s Message
President Warren Weaver’s Message:
Fellow Lions, Friends of the Elk Grove Lions Club and our Community.
As expected, we started April with a busy schedule in place for the month. We started the month with our Shrimp Dinner at the Albiani Recreation Center. We are very pleased to announce that we received a donation of wine from the Peirano Estate Vineyards in Lodi for that dinner.
We voted two new members into the club on April 10th. Welcome aboard to Dave Myrick and Joe Terry.
Also this month, our 1st vice president had the opportunity to step into the role as president by running his first board meeting as well as his first regular meeting.
On the 18th of May, Lion Jack and crew attended the nonprofit mixer put on by the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce where they shared info about our club to the Chamber. This was also an opportunity to share info about the Big Day of Giving that is coming up on the 4th of May. Lion Jack and crew is scheduled to attend a special event at Project R.I.D.E. on the 4th of May between 4:30 and 6:30 to meet, in person, with people interested in the Big Day of Giving. We will report next month on how well we did with this fundraiser. As noted a couple of months ago, the proceeds of this fundraiser will be dedicated to hosting a “Rise Against Hunger” event later in the year, possibly in October which is World Hunger month.
Several of our members attended the District Convention in Sacramento on the 21st-23rd of April.
Finally, our crew supported the kids at Jessie Baker School by preparing hamburgers and hot dogs at the annual Jessie Baker Games on the 27th and 28th of April.
Sincerely,
Lion Warren Weaver |

Application for Membership
Lions are in 200 countries and geographic areas. We have 45,000 clubs with over 1.3 million members world wide. We have a dynamic history. We are best known for fighting blindness — it’s part of our history as well as our work today. But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.
-
- We hope you will consider joining our club.
- To become a Lion, you must be of good moral character and good reputation in our community.
- Membership is by invitation.
- If you’re interested in being invited to join Lions Club of Elk Grove, you may want to consider some of the following facts about Lionism:
- Lions are active.
- Our motto is “We Serve.”
