President’s Message 
As unusual, we have been holding our meetings online using Zoom. All members who have email addresses listed with the club have been sent these meeting notices. At this time, I know of only one member who chooses to not use email and, of course, who has not received these email notices.
Although we have only been having meetings via Zoom for months, we did venture out for a socially accepted spacing of more than 6 feet and met at Beeman Park for our September 28th meeting. It was great seeing the members who were able to show up. We will try to do it again in October, weather allowing. We brought sandwiches and drinks and chairs. Great time seeing each other. We set up for Zoom for those not in attendance.
Remember that we are only doing two meetings per month during the Covid-19 situation. We have our board meeting on the 3rd Monday Board Meeting and our regular 4th Monday meeting so that we can advise members who did not attend our board meeting what transpired during the board meeting. All members are welcome to our board meetings.
The other unusual thing about our current situation is that we have not been able to hold our regular fundraisers or to support community efforts for other organizations to hold their fundraisers.
The District 1 day Convention was held on October 17th. My wife and I along with PDG Andy, Lion Jack Edwards and Lion John Zehnder were in attendance. PDG Andy Anderson received a District Governor’s Appreciation award as did Lion Jack Edwards. Lion Jack also received the Sacramento Region Lion of the Year Award. He was also nominated for the District Lion of the Year Award. We were able to present Lion John Zehnder Jr. with his Melvin Jones Fellow Award at the convention. He was quite surprised when he was called out to receive the award.

But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.
