Last month, I talked about the overwhelming support that we have received from our community in the way of online donations to the club to allow us to replace the equipment that was stolen from our trailer.
The outpouring of support has continued. We have raised over $3,500 through online donations via our website alone. On the 27th of February, a fundraiser dinner was held and the proceeds, in excess of $7,000 was raised for our club. That money, combined with the donations from the Soroptimist International of Elk Grove, the Rotary Club, the Optimists as well as the City of Elk Grove and the Elk Grove Auto Mall will put us well on our way to replacing our equipment.
We have proudly served our community over the past 60 years and we are proud to say that our community is serving us in return. Thanks to all of our friends and supporters in Elk Grove.
As to the regular news that you see in my monthly message, as usual we had a busy month. We started off the new year with our Senior Center Breakfast on the 14th. We supported the scouts with the Blue and Gold Spaghetti Dinner as well as helping Michael Lee with his Eagle Scout fundraiser. We also attended the fundraiser dinner for the Lions Club on the 27th. We also kept busy selling tickets to our own fundraiser, the Spring Crab Feed. Make sure to turn in your money and unsold tickets ASAP. We need to order just the right amount of Crab and Shrimp.
Please check the board minutes to see who is the chairperson for upcoming events and volunteer to assist them with our commitments to our community this month. We have our Crab Feed on March 7th, a sober grad night fundraiser on the 14th, a Pleasant Grove PTA fundraiser on the 20th and the Wilton 4-H fundraiser on the 28th.
On a final note, please keep Lion Heinz in your prayers. He started radiation treatment in December.

Lions are in 200 countries and geographic areas. We have 45,000 clubs with over 1.3 million members world wide. We have a dynamic history. We are best known for fighting blindness — it’s part of our history as well as our work today. But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.
We hope you will consider joining our club.
To become a Lion, you must be of good moral character and good reputation in our community.
Membership is by invitation.
