Another busy month for the Elk Grove Lions Club. We had our Annual Spring Crab Feed on March 7th. Had a great turnout, too. On the 9th, our regular meeting night, we hosted the Zone Student Speaker Contest. Our club winner Johanna Martin was the winner and went forward to the Regional Student Speaker Contest on 27th.
We had a slim crew for the Senior Center Pankcake Breakfast but everyone ate their fill and we had a great time supporting the Senior Center. We also supported the Sheldon sober grad night fundraiser on the 14th.
We visited the Capital Lions Club on the 19th for a great visitation. We supported another fundraiser for the Pleasant Grove PTA on the 20th and the Wilton 4-H fundraiser on the 28th. Lion Jack Edwards and Lion Warren Weaver joined me at the Regional Student Speaker Contest to support our winner, Johanna Martin. Unfortunately, she did not win that night. We also supported our friends at the Delta Lions Club Delta Tea Fundraiser. Dave King represented us at the 4th Annual Mel Oneto Pasta Feed on March 29th in Lincoln, CA
Although, our calendar does not look as full as usual at this time, we are planning a visitation to the Fair Oaks Lions Club on the 9th of April and we have our April Senior Center Pancake Breakfast on the 11th. Lion Andy Anderson is heading up the 4H Golf Tournament on the 24th. Please check the board minutes to see who is the chairperson for upcoming events and volunteer to assist them with our commitments to our community this month.
We announced our roster of candidates for next year’s office and will be voting on them this month. Make sure to attend the meeting and provide your input to the future of our club.
On a final note, please keep Lion Heinz in your prayers. He started radiation treatment in December.

Lions are in 200 countries and geographic areas. We have 45,000 clubs with over 1.3 million members world wide. We have a dynamic history. We are best known for fighting blindness — it’s part of our history as well as our work today. But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.
We hope you will consider joining our club.
To become a Lion, you must be of good moral character and good reputation in our community.
Membership is by invitation.
