As usual, we had a busy May,closing it out with a visit to the Pride of Laguna Lions Club. It looks like we will have a busy June as well, starting with a visit to the Mahalarika Lions Club on June 3rd. On June 4 we are helping with “Seniors in the Park”. Many of our members will be supporting the Pride of Laguna Lions Club at their beer fest; either working or as paying participants on Friday the 13th. On the 14th we will have our monthly pancake breakfast for the Senior Center. Later that evening is the Melvin Jones/New Member dinner at the Cert Center (the old Army Depot). I hope some of our new members will be able to attend along with any of our Melvin Jones award winners from the past.
Our installation dinner is set for June 16th. We will also be working the parking for the Elk Grove Scholarship Foundation’s Spotlight at the Ranch on June 21st. On June 27th, our members will be supporting the community at the Elk Grove Charity Bowling Event. So come out and help wherever you can as the chairpersons will really need us all! As always, we do need to bring in some new members to help us with our efforts to serve our community. So, please join me in bringing in a new member to the club. Ask a friend, who you believe would make a great addition to our club, to join us for dinner!
We have had a great year. We earned the Top Club award at the District convention in addition to some other awards. I was honored to be serving during the same year as our District Governor Andy and saw our club participate in a huge number of activities for our community. My term as president is coming to a close and we will be installing the new president and his board later this month. I have thoroughly enjoyed my term as president of your club. Thanks for trusting me to lead the club over the past year.

We had a very busy April. We assisted the Franklin Elementary PTA with a pancake breakfast at Franklin Elementary School. Our club also supported the Running of the Elk half marathon. We also hosted several drive thru tri-tip dinners for our community. We also had our annual golf tournament to support the FFA & 4H in Elk Grove and closed off the month with a Sober Grad night spaghetti dinner for Sheldon High School.
As we gear up for the month of May, we will start with setup and breakdown for the Elk Grove Scholarship Foundation on May 1st, followed by our participation at Western Festival Beer Booth starting on May 2nd and running through the weekend. Make sure to volunteer to lend a hand at these events as we need all the help our members can provide. We won’t slow down because we plan on a visitation to the Galt Lions Club on the 8th. Our monthly pancake breakfast comes up on the Second Saturday in May. We are also in the final planning stage for a wine tasting at McConnell Winery in the middle of the month. That will be followed by the Diabetes Camp, a Cancer Survivors Softball tournament and a couple of pasta dinners and pancake breakfasts for our local high schools. I am sure that I missed something, or at the minimum, we will add a couple more activities before the month ends. So as you can see we have a couple of very busy weekends that will require as many Lions as possible to help. So come out and help wherever you can as the chairpersons will really need us all!
As always, we do need to bring in some new members to help us with our efforts to serve our community. So, please join me in bringing in a new member to the club. Ask a friend, who you believe would make a great addition to our club, to join us for dinner!
The year has flown by and it is hard to believe that I just have a few meetings left in my term. It has been great up to now and I hope we can end the year with great turnouts at all our remaining events.

We had a very busy March. We served almost 350 guests the best crab dinner available in Elk Grove. It was another successful fundraiser. Thanks to the chairperson, Lion Bob Brewer, the main cook, Lion Gary Dapelo, and all of the other Lions who worked hard to make this event a success.
Of course, there were several spaghetti feeds, the monthly pancake breakfast for the Senior Center, and several Tri-tip Drive Thru Dinner functions to raise funds for local groups. I am sure that EG High School, PATH/Interact Club, EG High School Track Team, and the Wilton 4-H clubs really appreciate our efforts on their behalf.
The other big event of the month was the Delta Lions Celtic Irish Tea at the wonderful Grand Island Mansion. Our club was proud to honor a long time supporter, Mary Lewis from the Elk Grove Citizen. She was our special guest for the tea. It was an outstanding event. You should plan on going next year if it works in your schedule. Check out the pictures in this issue of the Stag.
It was also busy with the time for the annual announcements for officers for our club. The elections were completed in March and our new board of directors is ready to take charge in July. Thanks to your fellow lions who volunteered or did not opt out of being nominated to lead our club through the next year.
We are gearing up for April, with a pancake breakfast at Franklin Elementary School, the Running of the Elk half marathon as well as the Western Festival Beer Booth at the beginning of May.Make sure to volunteer to lend a hand at these events.
As always, we do need to bring in some new members to help us with our efforts to serve our community. So, please join me in bringing in a new member to the club. Ask a friend, who you believe would make a great addition to our club, to join us for dinner! My term is flying by but I am sure the club will fill the remaining time with lots of events that will make our community the great place it is to serve!!
