Well, we are half way through the holiday season. November was a busy month as we spent a lot of time selling tickets for our December 6th Annual Crab Feed Dinner. We had two spaghetti dinners on the 8th followed by the pancake breakfast on the 11th. We had a great turnout for our visitation to the Senator Lions Club at Sacramento Executive Airport. To finish off the month, we enjoyed a great Thanksgiving dinner and, as usual, we will handled traffic control and assisted the Elk Grove Food Bank with their distribution of food for Thanksgiving.
For the month of December, we will start off the month with our December Crab Feed on the 6th. Please get your tickets and money turned in. We will assist the Elk Grove Food Bank with traffic control and food distribution for Christmas on December 22. Contact Lion Joe Tallerico to assist if you are available. I know you are all busy for Christmas, but we will still plan to provide the pancake breakfast at the Senior Center on the second Saturday of December. As is usual for December, we will adjust our meeting schedule and have our board meeting on the 8th and our Christmas dinner on the 15th. Remember that our Christmas dinner is a family event. Lio Don Thompson is the head cook and the cost will be $15 per family.
Please join me in continuing the tradition set by our past club presidents in keeping the Elk Grove Lions Club at the top of the list of service clubs in Elk Grove. Please check the board minutes to see who is the chairperson for upcoming events and volunteer to assist them with our commitments to our community this month.
On a final note, please keep Lion Heinz in your prayers. He will be starting radiation treatment in December. Give him a call and lend him your support.

Lions are in 200 countries and geographic areas. We have 45,000 clubs with over 1.3 million members world wide. We have a dynamic history. We are best known for fighting blindness — it’s part of our history as well as our work today. But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.
We hope you will consider joining our club.
To become a Lion, you must be of good moral character and good reputation in our community.
Membership is by invitation.

If you were expecting a slow down in our activity, you must be thinking about some other Lions club. We had another busy month here in Elk Grove. We started out the month helping at the harvest festival by handling the parking control on the 4th and 5th. Thanks Lion Dave King for coordinating. On the 10th Lions Bill Kirkland, Rick Schriver and Charlie Bremmer cooked at Franklin Elementary School for their fundraiser. As usual, on the second Saturday, we provide the food and labor for the pancake breakfast at the Senior Center. We were invited to participate at the Zone meeting on the 21st as well as the Visions in Motion fundraiser on the 25th. Lion Andy Anderson handled our support of the fundraiser.
We already have a full schedule for November, starting with selling tickets for our December 6th Annual Crab Feed Dinner. Contact Lion Jack Edwards for tickets. We will also be assisting IPCC Derek Ledda at a fundraiser, two spaghetti dinners on the 8th followed by the pancake breakfast on the 11th. Several of our members plan to attend the District Cabinet meeting and as usual we will be handling traffic control and assisting the Elk Grove Food Bank with their distribution of food for Thanksgiving.
Please join me in continuing the tradition set by our past club presidents in keeping the Elk Grove Lions Club at the top of the list of service clubs in Elk Grove as we get ready for a busy November. Please check the board minutes to see who is the chairperson for the above events and volunteer to assist them with our commitments to our community this month.
Finally, don’t forget that we are celebrating Thanksgiving at our club with a family night on November 24th. Please bring a check made payable to the Elk Grove Food Bank for at least $10 as we will be donating the proceeds of our dinner meeting to them again this year.

As expected, we had another busy month here in Elk Grove. We started out the month cooking a Tri Tip dinner for St. Peters Church. Thanks to Lion Chris, one of our new members. That was quickly followed by the first dinner meeting of the month, then the Spotlight Elk Grove to assist the major fundraiser for scholarships for Elk Grove seniors getting ready to move on to college. The following weekend, we had our regular pancake breakfast to support the Elk Grove Senior Center on the 2nd Saturday of the month. The major difference was the almost the whole crew was new to the job as our regular cooks were on vacation. We still managed to feed about 130 pancake eaters which put about $650 in the bank for the Senior Center. As usual, we provide the food and labor and the Senior Center gets the proceeds as our donation to their operation for the use of their facilities for our meetings and cooking projects.
After a short break of about a week, we were on the job again with our first major fund raising effort for this fiscal year, a Tri Tip Dinner Pick-Up on September 22nd at the Senior Center. We prepared and packaged up about 150 dinners, including the cooked tri tip, 4 baked potatoes, salad, bread and dessert. Great effort by well over a dozen dedicated lions. hope to be cooking several hunderd tri tip roasts as well as 4 times as many baked potatoes. Of course, there will be beans, salad, bread and cookies to round out the meal. Thanks to Lion Taka for taking the lead on this project.
Of course, weren’t done yet. On the 26th we did a spaghetti dinner for Andreani Elementary School, and to close out the month, we made a visitation to the Galt Lions Club on September 25th.
Please join me in continuing the tradition set by our past club presidents in keeping the Elk Grove Lions Club at the top of the list of service clubs in Elk Grove as we get ready for a busy October. We will be assisting with traffic control for the Pumpkin Festival during the first weekend in October, followed by all of our regular activities.

Board Meetings: 3rd Monday
Location: Senior Center of Elk Grove 8830 Sharkey Avenue
Lions are in 200 countries and geographic areas. We have 45,000 clubs with over 1.3 million members world wide. We have a dynamic history. We are best known for fighting blindness — it’s part of our history as well as our work today. But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.
We hope you will consider joining our club.
To become a Lion, you must be of good moral character and good reputation in our community.
Membership is by invitation.
If you’re interested in being invited to join Lions Club of Elk Grove, you may want to consider some of the following facts about Lionism:
Activities & Photos The club was engaged in several fun events over the past month. Check out the following photos:

Announcements
Let’s reach out to our fellow member, Lion Sterling. As many of you know, Lion Sterling has been in a care facility since his stroke. His wife sent a little note along with his dues payment stating that he would love to have some visits from his Lion friends. Call ahead to make sure he is not out on a field trip.
