I am honored and extremely proud to serve as the president of the Elk Grove Lions Club for the 2019 / 2020 year. It is indeed a privilege to be part of such a distinguished group of men and women who have contributed to the motto “We Serve” for the benefit of community service here in Elk Grove and beyond.
To my fellow Lions, I pledge to do my best to uphold my leadership position that has made this club a success in our community. With your help, I believe we’ll continue to be a great presence in Elk Grove.
We, as a club, are planning for a very busy July. On schedule this month are the monthly Senior Center Breakfast, the “Community Campout” in partnership with the Cosumnes Community Service District, the Strauss Festival, and the Kohl’s Child Spree. This should make all of us smile with pride as Lions! This in part is what “Lionism” is all about.
I would like to give a BIG thank you to our past president Brad Dano. He guided our club to provide many benefits to the greater Elk Grove nonprofits, many youth organizations, schools and including our charter of Boy Scout Troop 59 and Cub Scout Pack 179 this past year.
I would also like to thank the family and friends of our members who have lent their support, when we needed an extra pair of hands.
My fellow Elk Grove Lions, with your help, I promise to do my best to serve with honor as your club president, in upholding the Lions Club International’s motto “We Serve.”
Respectfully, Taka Blackburn

Lions are in 200 countries and geographic areas. We have 45,000 clubs with over 1.3 million members world wide. We have a dynamic history. We are best known for fighting blindness — it’s part of our history as well as our work today. But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.
We hope you will consider joining our club.
To become a Lion, you must be of good moral character and good reputation in our community.
Membership is by invitation.
