”Danny”
Passed away in Sacramento, May 31, 2010. Husband for 63 years of Grace DiBenedetto, father of Dave DiBenedetto, the late Daniel DiBenedetto, Jr. and the late Elaine King; father-in-law of Sherry DiBenedetto and Diane DiBenedetto, grandfather of Buffy (Craig) Holt, Daniel (Sunni) DiBenedetto, III, Andy DiBenedetto, Tony DiBenedetto and Crystal DiBenedetto, great-grandfather of 8, all of Elk Grove.
He was the youngest of 8 children. He was a devoted uncle to numerous nieces and nephews here and on the east coast. A native of Quincy, Mass., aged 83 years. He served in WWII from 1944 to 1946 as a Machinist Mate in the Navy. He moved to Sacramento County in 1952 and owned a plumbing company for 36 years until retiring. He was a former member of Local 447 and on the Board of Directors of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Assn. (PHCC).
He was also a member of the Elk Grove Elks Club, VFW and Elk Grove Lion’s Club where he served two terms as President. He was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellow for Dedicated Humanitarian Services and a Gordon C. Daniels Associate Member of the Northern California Lions Sight Assn. for outstanding club leadership & service. He served the people of Elk Grove in many capacities and was instrumental in the building of Strauss Island in Elk Grove Park.
Friends are welcome for Visitation on Tuesday, June 8th from Noon to 8PM in the East Lawn Elk Grove Mortuary, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove 916-732-2031 and are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, June 9th at 11AM in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 9961 Elk Grove-Florin Rd., Elk Grove. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
