Upcoming Meetings: As unusual, we have been holding our meetings online using Zoom. All members who have email addresses listed with the club have been sent these meeting notices. At this time, I know of only one member who chooses to not use email and, of course, who has not received these email notices.
We have our signed contract for our use of the Albiani Recreational Center in place with plans to have our first live face-to-face meeting on April 19th for the board meeting. Of course it depends upon the color code status in April. If it does not come down from Red, we won’t be able to have a meeting in person because the current rules only people from 3 different families with social distancing rules in place.
The April board meeting will be on the 19th and we will have our regular 4th Monday meeting on the 26th.
Fundraising: We are working on another drive thru dinner, this time being a Pasta Drive Thru, on April 14th. Tickets are available online. Make sure to buy your ticket and to tell your friends about it so that we have a profitable fundraiser. Here is the link.
Honoring our History: Since our last board meeting Lion Jack updated the website to include a new page. In Memory is a menu link to honor the Lions who passed away. Please check it out and let Lion Jack know if he has missed someone or if you have a good story to add about working with one of those special people who may have mentored you as a new Lion cub.
Elections: Finally, it is the time of the year that we are looking for new board members to serve our club. 1st VP John Muegge has been calling and asking if you are willing to step up to the plate and serve on our board. At this time I know that he has asked which current board members would be willing to stay on in their current role or in another role. He will also be asking you if you are willing to serve. I know that we will have the following vacancies: 2nd Vice President, 3rd Vice President, 1 year director (two positions), visitation chair and sunshine chair. Time to Step up & Serve.
District 4C5 Convention: As with the past year, it looks like the District will not have its regular 3 day convention. It looks like a two day convention in Sacramento. It is set for June 4 & 5 in Sacramento. The theme will be “Masquerade”. Click here for more info.
Lions International Convention: If you ever wondered what took place at the International Convention, this year you can do it virtually. The convention, to be held in Montreal, is set for June 25-29, 2021.Click here for more info.
In Closing: I continue to be so very proud to be a part of such a great community minded organization, the Elk Grove Lions Club.

Lions are in 200 countries and geographic areas. We have 45,000 clubs with over 1.3 million members world wide. We have a dynamic history. We are best known for fighting blindness — it’s part of our history as well as our work today. But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.
We hope you will consider joining our club.
To become a Lion, you must be of good moral character and good reputation in our community.
Membership is by invitation.
