Fellow Lions, Friends of the Elk Grove Lions Club and our Community.
February also turned out to be a busy month for the Club.
Of course, we had our monthly pancake breakfast on the second Saturday of the month. We invited Post 55, American Legion Elk Grove, to join us. They made arrangements with CSD to have access to a separate room for their social hour and breakfast. It worked great. We even had the Red Hat Ladies show up for breakfast. In all we served over 140 people for breakfast.
As usual, we have plans for our regular monthly meetings and our board meeting.
The District Meeting was on February 4th. Our club was asked to serve breakfast so we set up our pancake grill before daylight so that we were serving by the time the event started at 8:00 am. It was a great District Meeting. One of the highlights of the meeting was having Rise Against Hunger join us. They set up a food filling station and we filled several thousand bags with rice, soy and dehydrated vegetables that can be distributed worldwide to help curb the world hunger problem as well as to provide food for the refugees from the Ukraine as well as people displaced due to hurricanes, cyclones and earthquakes.
We had our annual Student Speaker Contest on the 13th of February. We also planed to have a visit from our District Governor and his Cabinet at our February 27th dinner meeting but it was postponed because the District Governor could not travel because he was snowed in at Colfax.
Next month, we will be visiting the Delta Lions Club Celtic Tea on the 11th of March. We will host the bar for the Martinis and Merriment for the Soroptimist on March 25th. We have our Drive-thru Tri-tip fundraiser on the 29th of March followed by a sit down Shrimp Dinner on April 1st.. Our District Convention is set for April 21-23 here in Sacramento.
All together, February was a great month.
Sincerely,
Lion Warren Weaver

Lions are in 200 countries and geographic areas. We have 45,000 clubs with over 1.3 million members world wide. We have a dynamic history. We are best known for fighting blindness — it’s part of our history as well as our work today. But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.
We hope you will consider joining our club.
To become a Lion, you must be of good moral character and good reputation in our community.
Membership is by invitation.
