As unusual, we have been holding our meetings online using Zoom. All members who have email addresses listed with the club have been sent these meeting notices. At this time, I know of only one member who chooses to not use email and, of course, who has not received these email notices.

Remember that we are only doing two meetings per month during the Covid-19 situation. We have our board meeting on the 3rd Monday Board Meeting and our regular 4th Monday meeting so that we can advise members who did not attend our board meeting what transpired during the board meeting. All members are welcome to our board meetings.

The February board meeting will be on the 15th and we will have our regular 4th Monday meeting on the 22nd.

We are processing the application for a new member who will be voted on at our February 15th board meeting. Dan Quiggle.

I have been working closely with CSD to get our annual contract in place. We are waiting for the signed agreement to be returned to us. I will provide an update at the next meeting.

I continue to be so very proud to be a part of such a great community minded organization, the Elk Grove Lions Club.

But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.

The January board meeting will be on the 18th and we will have our regular 4th Monday meeting on the 25th.

It has been pretty quiet during the holidays since we did not have our annual Crab Feed on the 1st Saturday in December. Other than our board meeting in December, the only other meeting was a Zoom meet and greet with the new CSD Fire Chief, Felipe Rodriguez. After the meeting, Dan Quiggle, who coordinated the meeting, told me that he wanted to sign up as a Lion. So, it looks like we will start the new year with a new Lion in our club.

Apparently we have a new Administrator of Parks and Recreationat CSD. His name is Phillip Lewis and we are in the process of scheduling a Zoom meet and greet with him as well. 

I have been working closely with CSD to get our annual contract in place. I will provide an update at the next meeting.

I want to offer a special thanks to the members who assisted with our November Tri-Tip Dinner Drive-Thru. It was very successful. Thanks for working the event as well as buying a dinner for your family. Thanks to Lions Taka, Brad, Jack, Anthony, Bob S., Dan, Warren, Lynden, Jason, Bob B., Andy, Charlie, Don, Bill H., Stan, Dennis, John Jr., and Jey. Another special thank you to the members who assisted with the Elk Grove Food Bank Services annual Thanksgiving Dinner Box distribution. Our Lions managed the huge crowd of over 700 people who lined up to get their dinner box. Our traffic control managed to keep the traffic off of East Stockton Blvd and keep everything moving. Thanks to Lions Andy, taka, Bob H, Bob B, Brad, Marv, Anthony, Dan, John Jr., Jason and Jack.

Lion Joe Tallerico has been undergoing chemo treatments on Mondays. Unfortunately, we Joe lost his battle with Cancer on December 3rd. We have lost a friend and a valuable member of our club. Our condolences go out to his wife, Lynda, during this difficult time.

As many of you know, Lion Sterling has been in a care facility since his stroke. He would love to have some visits from his Lion friends. Call ahead to make sure he is not out on a field trip. He is at Emeritus of Laguna Creek, 6727 Laguna Park Drive, EG, CA. 95758 916-683-1881
