Fellow Lions, Friends of the Elk Grove Lions Club and our Community.
In addition to our usual activities, we had another great pancake breakfast on the 11th, although several of our members were in force at the Delta Lions Club’s annual Celtic Tea that morning.
When it comes to membership, you will see below that we are working on two new members for next month, but for this month we have a new member transfer from another club in our area. Welcome to Eva Zhou. She is currently serving as the Zone Chair for the Crocker Zone. She will continue to serve in this capacity until the end of June. She may also bring a new member with her and we are looking forward to having her as a part of our club.
Several members attended the Zone Student Speaker Contest on the 17th. Our contestant did very well but unfortunately did not win and move forward to the Region contest. The candidate from the Delta Lions Club will be moving on to the next level.
On the morning of the 18th, Lion Jack & PDG Andy assisted the Pride of Laguna Lions with the Eyes Across California event at the CSD parking lot on Elk Grove Blvd. Later that day, PDG Andy and our crew did a great job running the bar at the SES Hall. It was the Inaugural Crab Feed – in the memory of Kim Collier, a former student at Cosumnes High School who was killed in Berkeley. One week later the same crew assisted the Soroptimist at their Martinis and Merriment event on the 25th. The following morning, some of our members assisted with the Running of The Elk at District 56 where our crew prepared hundreds of pancakes for the runners and their families. By the time the run ended, there wasn’t a pancake in sight as the hungry crowd of runners consumed them all.
On the 27th, we had a visitation by the District Governor, Tim Luckinbill and members of his board. We also held the election of our officers for next year. As you will see, most of our board was willing to stay on another year as we welcome in our new president, Bob Shipley.

We kept busy the following week with our Drive-thru Tri-Tip dinner where we served over 300 families on the 29th to end a very busy month.
We are looking forward to a very busy April as well starting with our Shrimp Dinner at the Albiani Recreation Center. We are very pleased to announce that we received a donation of wine from the Peirano Estate Vineyards in Lodi for that dinner.
Also coming up in April we will have our 1st vice president running his first regular meeting and his first board meeting. We will be bringing on two new members at our meeting on April 10th, but we will talk more about them next month.
Finally, several of our members will be attending the District Convention in Sacramento on the 21st-23rd of April.
Sincerely,
Lion Warren Weaver

Lions are in 200 countries and geographic areas. We have 45,000 clubs with over 1.3 million members world wide. We have a dynamic history. We are best known for fighting blindness — it’s part of our history as well as our work today. But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.
We hope you will consider joining our club.
To become a Lion, you must be of good moral character and good reputation in our community.

Fellow Lions, Friends of the Elk Grove Lions Club and our Community.
In addition to our usual activities, we had the announcement of nominations for our officers at the meeting on the 13th of February and the first reading of nominees on the 27th of February. The second reading is scheduled for the 13th of March with the vote on the 27th of March.
We started the month of January with plans for our monthly pancake breakfast on the second Saturday of the month. We expect Post 55, American Legion Elk Grove, to join us again as they have made this a regular part of their calendar. They made arrangements with CSD to have access to a separate room for their social hour and breakfast.
As usual, we have plans for our regular monthly meetings and our board meeting.
Some of our members attended the District Meeting on February 4th and will be in attendance at the Delta Lions Club Celtic Tea on the 11th of March.
We hosted our annual Student Speaker Contest on the 13th of February. We had only one speaker, and is going on to the Zone contest on March 17th.
Our District Convention is set for April 21-23 here in Sacramento. We are doing the bar for the Soroptimist at their Martinis and Merriment event on the 25th of March.
We will also have our regular March Tri-Tip Drive Thru to support the 4-H and FFA students at the County Fair in May.
Don’t forget that we are hosting a fun get-together for our club on April 1st. It will be a shrimp feed fundraiser to support our Admin Account.
All together, February was a great month. Our plan to have a visit from our District Governor and his Cabinet at our February 27th dinner meeting was moved to March 27th because the District Governor was snowed in.
We have had a couple of potential new members attend our meetings. David Myrick and Teresa Anderson. We are looking forward to them becoming new members soon.
Sincerely,
Lion Warren Weaver

Fellow Lions, Friends of the Elk Grove Lions Club and our Community.
February also turned out to be a busy month for the Club.
Of course, we had our monthly pancake breakfast on the second Saturday of the month. We invited Post 55, American Legion Elk Grove, to join us. They made arrangements with CSD to have access to a separate room for their social hour and breakfast. It worked great. We even had the Red Hat Ladies show up for breakfast. In all we served over 140 people for breakfast.
As usual, we have plans for our regular monthly meetings and our board meeting.
The District Meeting was on February 4th. Our club was asked to serve breakfast so we set up our pancake grill before daylight so that we were serving by the time the event started at 8:00 am. It was a great District Meeting. One of the highlights of the meeting was having Rise Against Hunger join us. They set up a food filling station and we filled several thousand bags with rice, soy and dehydrated vegetables that can be distributed worldwide to help curb the world hunger problem as well as to provide food for the refugees from the Ukraine as well as people displaced due to hurricanes, cyclones and earthquakes.
We had our annual Student Speaker Contest on the 13th of February. We also planed to have a visit from our District Governor and his Cabinet at our February 27th dinner meeting but it was postponed because the District Governor could not travel because he was snowed in at Colfax.
Next month, we will be visiting the Delta Lions Club Celtic Tea on the 11th of March. We will host the bar for the Martinis and Merriment for the Soroptimist on March 25th. We have our Drive-thru Tri-tip fundraiser on the 29th of March followed by a sit down Shrimp Dinner on April 1st.. Our District Convention is set for April 21-23 here in Sacramento.
All together, February was a great month.
Sincerely,
Lion Warren Weaver
