Lion President Sharon Mika
We just wrapped up our annual Crab & Shrimp feed held at the SES Hall on December 2nd; Lion Brad took lead and with plenty of Lions to assist we provided another successful dinner.
Our Thanksgiving Dinner with friends & family was a delicious as usual! Our November board meeting was cancelled due to a conflict with the Zone Meeting held on the same night. We change things up a bit for December with our board meeting on the 11th and our Christmas dinner for family on December 18th; Lion Jim will take charge along with assistance from fellow Lions to provide our feast. Following tradition we will make a donation to the Elk Grove Food Bank for our December meal. Please bring cash or a check payable to the Elk Grove Food Bank Services for $10.00 or more.
The monthly pancake breakfast held at the Senior Center will be on December 9th, along with biscuits and gravy, a popular addition to the breakfast.
For our next big fundraiser, we will be trying something new to replace the Crab & Shrimp feed held in March. A corned beef & cabbage dinner will be held on March 17th, 2018 at the Pavilion in Elk Grove Park. We are still working out the details but we are excited for this new idea!
Lion John Jr. is working with Chili’s to set up a day for a percentage of your meal to go to the Elk Grove Lions Club. Tentative date is January 24th.
Don’t forget to save your recyclables for funds to go towards supporting our youth in the area at the Sacramento County Fair. A big thank you to Lion Andy for handling the collections.
To each and all a very Merry Christmas!

Lion President Sharon Mika

Thank you to all who helped make our 2nd annual Day of the Dead Carnitas Festival Dinner a great success! Special thanks to the chair, Lion Jey, and Lion Pancho & crew who cooked. Delicious as usual!
November 6th some of us will be attending the Elk Grove Citizen of the Year dinner to honor our very own Lion Pancho Sanchez. Once again Congratulations for a well-deserved honor!
Next up is our monthly pancake breakfast at the Senior Center on November 11th. After many years as a co- chair with Lion Jim, Lion Don Thompson will be stepping down as pancake flipper L. Lion Don has been turning out beautiful fluffy golden brown pancakes every month for years and we will surely miss him and his expertise. He will still be helping out with the shopping for the breakfast. Thank you for your continued service Lion Don, you will be greatly missed!
On November 13th we will have our annual Thanksgiving dinner with friends and family. Our board meeting will be on November 20th.
Lion Tony Santos of the Citrus Heights Lions who requested our help with labor and equipment for a tri tip dinner to aid the victims of Puerto Rico will be on November 18th. Check with Lion Brad to see what help he needs.
We will also once again help the Elk Grove High School drill team with their spaghetti dinner fundraiser, with Lion Pancho as the head cook.
Next month coming up quick is our annual Crab Feed & Shrimp fundraiser at the SES Hall on December 2nd. Tickets are $50.00 and available now. Please bring in a raffle prize donation for this event. It’s one of the many ways you can help support your club and is much appreciated, along with selling tickets! Sell! Sell! Sell!
You can still participate in the Toys for Troops with a donation, just bring in an unwrapped toy and Lion Andy will make sure it gets to the right place.
Coming up our December Family Christmas Dinner will be on December 11th. We will most likely collect a check or cash for the Elk Grove Food Bank in place of paying the club for dinner. Our board meeting will be on December 18th.
MONTHLY REMINDERS:
Save your recyclables!
Tell your friends and family to donate to the Big Day of Giving web site for Elk Grove Lions Foundation!
Happy Thanksgiving to All!

Lion President Sharon Mika

We have exciting news to share:
The Elk Grove Citizen of the Year was announced for 2017-18 with a Lion once again taking honors.  Congratulations to Lion Pancho Sanchez!
We wrapped up our last dinner meeting for the month of September with a visit from DG Nick McNicholas and part of his staff.  He provided some interesting facts about our club & members and shared upcoming events.
We also ended the month of September with several Lions assisting the Elk Grove Rotary Club at their annual Beef & Reef fundraiser at Lent Ranch.  Great job to the Lions who stepped up at the last minute to offer their help.
As we begin October, our first scheduled task is to help CSD with parking for the Giant Pumpkin Festival held in Elk Grove Park on October 7th & 8th.   Lion Dano is taking lead on this with crews for Saturday and Sunday.
This is part of our agreement with CSD and gives us use of the Pavilion for our next big fundraiser which is the Day of the Dead Carnitas Dinner on October 28th.  Tickets are a reasonable priced $25.00 each and we will once again have the “World Famous Chicken Drop” with a promised more lively chicken this year! You are encouraged to wear your favorite costume.  Keep selling those tickets!
We have some guest speakers scheduled for our dinner meetings this month;  Friends of the Library are here on October 9th and AirMed Care on October 23rd.  Make plans to attend these dinner meetings for an informative night.
We will be supporting the Elk Grove Senior Center with our monthly pancake breakfast on October 14th and assisting with at the Strauss Festival fundraiser on October 21st.
Don’t forget to save your recyclables; the monies collected are used towards our support of the Sacramento County Fair livestock auction.
And finally don’t forget to check out the Big Day of Giving website.  You can make your donations now to the Elk Grove Lions Foundation.  Thank you for your support!
