I hope everybody had a great Christmas and New Year’s Day. It was a quiet month as far as Lions Club activities. With the holidays, we only had one dinner meeting and the Board meeting in December. The dinner meeting was our yearly Christmas Dinner though and it was a great time. The ham was great along with everything else. We also installed Greg Neil into the Elk Grove Lions Club. Welcome Greg.
As for events, our usual shrimp and crab feed was again canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic so the only event was the monthly Community Pancake Breakfast.
Fortunately, we have still been able to use the ARC for meetings and dinners even as the new Omicron Variant spreads. I sincerely hope that next year will see a return to normalcy (wishful thinking). We shall see what 2022 has in store.
We donated $315 to the Strauss Festival from the results of the money collected for our Family Christmas Dinner.
Our Community Pancake Breakfast will be held on the 15th of January instead of the 8th of January because of a scheduling conflict.
We will be hosting the Club Student Speaker Contest on the 14th of February.
Note: The third Monday of January and February are holidays so we won’t have access to ARC. The Board Meeting on January 17th and February 21st will be Zoom Meetings. Lion Jack will send out an email with a link to join the meeting.
Because we are not able to use the facility on those dates, we were given two nights in March. On Wednesday, March 2nd, we will host the Zone Student Speaker Contest rather than take up one of our regular meeting nights for that activity.
We will be able to use the second unavailable date on Wednesday the 16th of March. The plan for that date is to have a drive-thru Tri Tip Fundraising Dinner. Lion Taka had been coordinating that effort with Lion Warren. Still a lot of work to do on that event. We will discuss this fundraiser at our Zoom board meeting.
Lion Jack will be hosting his 3rd Zone Meeting at his house at 4000 Babson Drive on the 19th of January at 6:00 pm. The club president, 1st vice president, and the treasurer are expected to attend. If you want to attend as well, please let Lion Jack know.

Lions are in 200 countries and geographic areas. We have 45,000 clubs with over 1.3 million members world wide. We have a dynamic history. We are best known for fighting blindness — it’s part of our history as well as our work today. But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.
We hope you will consider joining our club.
To become a Lion, you must be of good moral character and good reputation in our community.
Membership is by invitation.
