As unusual, we have been holding our meetings online using Zoom. All members who have email addresses listed with the club have been sent these meeting notices. At this time, I know of only one member who chooses to not use email and, of course, who has not received these email notices.
Remember that we are only doing two meetings per month during the Covid-19 situation. We have our board meeting on the 3rd Monday Board Meeting and our regular 4th Monday meeting so that we can advise members who did not attend our board meeting what transpired during the board meeting. All members are welcome to our board meetings.
The May board meeting will be on the 17th and we will have our regular 4th Monday meeting on the 24th.
Fundraising: Last month we had our Pasta Drive Thru, on April 14th. Tickets sold well and we had a great crew to help Lion Jey who headed up the effort. 21 Lions showed up to help. Thanks for the great effort for our club. It was a profitable fundraiser, almost $2400, and the funds will be available for the FFA/4-H account for the animal auction this year.
Elections: Finally, it is the time of the year that we are looking for new board members to serve our club. 1st VP John Muegge has been calling and asking if you are willing to step up to the plate and serve on our board. At this time I know that he has asked which current board members would be willing to stay on in their current role or in another role. He will also be asking you if you are willing to serve. I know that we will have the following vacancies: 2nd Vice President, 3rd Vice President, 1 year director (two positions), visitation chair and sunshine chair. Time to Step up & Serve.
District 4C5 Convention: As with the past year, it looks like the District will not have its regular 3 day convention. It looks like a two day convention in Sacramento. It is set for June 4 & 5 in Sacramento. The theme will be “Masquerade”. Click here for more info.
Lions International Convention: If you ever wondered what took place at the International Convention, this year you can do it virtually. The convention, to be held in Montreal, is set for June 25-29, 2021.Click here for more info.
Upcoming Fundraising Efforts: We have the Big Day of Giving on May 6th. Lion Jack has been working on it with outreach going to the members of our club as well as to the local community. We hope to bring in more than we did last year, even with the challenges of Covid to deal with. Your support will be very much appreciated. Tell your friends and neighbors. https://ElkGroveLionsFoundation.org/big-day-of-giving for more info.
In Closing: I continue to be so very proud to be a part of such a great community minded organization, the Elk Grove Lions Club.

Lions are in 200 countries and geographic areas. We have 45,000 clubs with over 1.3 million members world wide. We have a dynamic history. We are best known for fighting blindness — it’s part of our history as well as our work today. But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.
We hope you will consider joining our club.
To become a Lion, you must be of good moral character and good reputation in our community.
Membership is by invitation.
