Fellow Lions, Friends of the Elk Grove Lions Club and our Community.
Another month has come and gone, and we seem to have been as busy as ever.
We started off the month with the park dedication for the CSD Dr. Adreani park dedication. We grilled burgers and dogs for the family, guests and community. The Camp out in the Park was more grilling and griddling with burgers Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday morning. Additionally we provided a coffee and tea bar for the CSD kick off meeting of the Giant Pumpkin Festival. Lots of time with Elizabeth from CSD.
We were not done. We cooked for two consecutive weekends for water skiing championships at Shortline Lake. Shout out to Lion Jason Springer who cooked all of the meat for the events and the sides for the first weekend. He made it easy on us. This was a good fundraiser for our club. Additionally we had our annual pancake and sausage feed for Elk Grove HS FFA youth and staff.
Of course, he had our monthly community breakfast as well as our general and board meetings. Additionally Lion Warren and his crew prepared about 40 gallons of red sauce concentrate for our future events.
Don’t forget that on October 12th, we will host a “Rise Against Hunger” event at the Albiani Recreation Center. We are inviting teams from each of the service clubs to join us.
I’m proud of our club and all that we do for our community. Our schedule is the busiest it has been in years, and that means we are meeting our mission to serve.
Sincerely,
Lion Bob Shipley
By the way, did you get a chance to read this article about our Service Clubs written by our own public affairs officer, Lion Jack Edwards, published by BeLocal in June? In July, the companion article about several of our local non-profit organizations was published. Thanks Jack for getting the word out about the Lions and the other great organizations in our community. You can read it here. Below the picture of the monthly magazine you will find the article about the non-profits and the interview with Jack & Tracey.

Lions are in 200 countries and geographic areas. We have 45,000 clubs with over 1.3 million members world wide. We have a dynamic history. We are best known for fighting blindness — it’s part of our history as well as our work today. But we also volunteer for many different kinds of projects including disaster relief — across many borders. We serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools with new programs and resources. Internationally, we offer many programs.
We hope you will consider joining our club.
To become a Lion, you must be of good moral character and good reputation in our community.
Membership is by invitation.
