My final month was busy, just as all of the other months of my tenure as your president. We started off the month on the 4th at the Spotlight on Scholars at Creekside Church. We had lions there for the setup, preparation of water and tea and for the breakdown. Additionally, we presented scholarships to this year’s recipients. Congratulations to Susan Zhang and Faith Meeker this year’s recipients of our scholarships. You can see the photos below. We selected May 10th as our Chili’s Give Back event and we are waiting to see how much we earned for the day. Our Senior Center Pancake Breakfast was on the 13th. On the 18th was the EGHS Senior Class Sunset Breakfast and on the 20th, our crew worked the bar at the Musical Mayhem Event.
Thanks for all your help in a very busy year. It has been a pleasure to serve as your President for the past year. I plan to be an active past president, providing assistance to incoming President Sharon Mika. Please join me and offer your support of our new President.
Thanks again for another productive month serving our community.

Thanks for all your help in a very busy April. We started off on April 2nd where we assisted with the Running of the Elk which supports the Elk Grove Youth Sports Foundation with scholarships for kids who want to participate in sports but who’s families don’t have the funds to cover the cost of equipment and uniforms. Several of us supported the “Walk to Remember” on the 8th. I was there for setup and Lion Warren and crew showed up to BBQ tritip for sandwiches. Lion Lorene and crew assisted the CSD with parking control at the Eggstravaganza at Elk Grove Park on the 15th. In past years, we supported the Creek Cleanup day throughout Elk Grove on Earth Day. It is now called the CSD Just Serve Your Community Day. A crew of Lions John & Rebecca, Me and my wife, Lion Joe, Lion Brewer, and Lion Sharon spent the morning cutting up fruit and serving burgers and dogs to the work crews on the 22nd at Rotary Grove in Elk Grove Regional Park. That evening, some of the same Lions who worked the Just Serve event, met up at the SES Hall to run the bar for the PTA fundraiser. On the 23rd, we had the honor of working the bar for the Celebration of Life for Jerry Strong at the Project Ride arena. To end a busy month, Lion Pancho and crew worked worked the games at Jesse Baker School on the 27th and 28th, serving burgers and hot dogs to the participants. On the 29th, our incoming president Lion Sharon and I finished off the month by going to the District 4c5 conference in San Ramon.
We will start off the month on the 4th at the Spotlight on Scholars at Creekside Church. We will have lions there for the setup, preparation of water and tea and for the breakdown. Additionally, we will be there to present scholarships to this year’s recipients. Congratulations to Susan Zhang and Faith Meeker this year’s recipients of our scholarships. We have selected May 10th as our Chili’s Give Back event. There is information on the home page of our website about this event. Please share it with all of your friends and neighbors so that we can have a productive fundraiser. Our Senior Center Pancake Breakfast is on the 13th. On the 18th is the EGHS Senior Class Sunset Breakfast and on the 20th, our crew will work the bar at the Musical Mayhem Event.
Thanks again for another productive month serving our community.

Thanks for all your help in a very busy March. We started the month with our Crab Feed on March 4th, followed by the Zone Student Speaker Contest on March 6th. Unfortunately, although she did a good job, Prentice Hitt did not win the Zone contest. On March 10th we hosted the bar for the Soroptimist Martinis and Merriment event. Lions Don & Jim and crew handled the Senior Center Breakfast on the 11th followed by our 2nd Monday meeting on the 13th. We continued with the nominations for officers at that meeting and had a visit from Ed Smith to talk about a Student Speaker Fundraising event. We joined the Pride of Laguna at Colton Insurance for the 3rd Annual Eyes across California for a statewide eyeglass collection event. I attended a CSD Master Planning Meeting on the afternoon of the 21st followed by the Chamber of Commerce mixer that evening. The theme of the night was Elk Grove’s non-profit organizations. I had a great evening. Friday the 24th we supported the PTA at the Spaghetti Feed at Pleasant Grove Elementary. On Saturday the 15th, Lion Jim & Lion Dave represented our club at the Mel Oneto Memorial Pasta Feud. Some of our members attended the Delta Lions Club Celtic Irish Tea. We selected Diane Hollingshead to be our special guest, but she was not able to attend. We will be recognizing her at our April 10th meeting. We ended the month at our 4th Monday meeting with the opportunity for more nominations for officers from the floor.
We have a busy April coming up. Although not the first event of the month, the major event this month will be the vote for our board on April 10th.
Here are our activities set for April. April 2nd we will assist with the Running of the Elk which supports the Elk Grove Youth Sports Foundation with scholarships for kids who want to participate in sports but who’s families don’t have the funds to cover the cost of equipment and uniforms. Several of us will support the “Walk to Remember” on the 8th. In addition to our regularly scheduled meetings, we will participate in the Just Serve Day BBQ for CSD on the 22nd at Rotary Grove in Elk Grove Regional Park. We will end the month with the president or the 1st vice president going to the District 4c5 conference in San Ramon. As a reminder, we have selected May 10th as our Chili’s Give Back event. There is information on the home page of our website about this event. Please share it with all of your friends and neighbors.
Thanks again for another productive month serving our community.
