Mr. Jones held several engineering certificates and worked with Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego during World War II. He was also a retired insurance executive.
In retirement he was an avid leader of RV caravans and clubs and also enjoyed being a newspaper columnist and photographer.
His family said he enjoyed life to the fullest.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 70 years, Bernice Jones of Elk Grove; children Paul Jones Jr. and wife Margie of Elk Grove, and Peggy Mitchell and husband Jesse of Fayetteville, Ga.; grandchildren Mandy Branton and husband Lyle, and Amy Slaybaugh all of Fayetteville; Brett Jones and wife Jill of Sacramento, and Guy Jones and wife Kayti of Orangevale; and seven great-grandchildren.
Saturday’s reception will be at the Jones’ residence, 9777 Tavernor Road, Wilton, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
