Scholarships

For several years the Elk Grove Lions Club has provided scholarships to students who attend the high schools in Elk Grove.

  • Our club participates in the District  4c5 Student Speaker Contest which provides a small scholarship at the club level, but the club winner then competes at the Zone, Region and District levels before competing at the State and finally the National Contest. A student can win over $10,000 in scholarship money through this process. Additionally, they can compete in this contest as Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.
  • We also have provided scholarships specifically to FFA Students each year for the past few years.
  • As funds become available, we have provided scholarships for students attending the fire acadamy affilliated with our Cosumnes CSD.
  • Finally, we partner with the Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation to provide scholarships to graduating seniors at our local high schools.
    • Although we had four individual scholarships in the name of some of our beloved Lions, we have had to combine them to adequately fund them with the increasing cost of higher education.
    • We currently have two scholarships that are endowed to provide scholarships in the amount of $1500 for each student. Each year we add funds to those scholarships so that as of 2025/26 they are both $2,000.
    • To apply for a scholarship from the Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation, your application must be submitted by January 26 for next year’s round of scholarships.

We fund all of our scholarships with the income from our fundraising dinners like our crab feed, burgers and brews, our carnitas feed, and from the Big Day of Giving.
